We began working with the bioemitters with a test on one cage which showed an gradual improvement in the lice situation. Michael the diver reported seeing the lice numbers decreasing after a week. We then increased the number of cages being treated and the we have 3 years weekly data that show decrease in numbers of gravid females and total numbers of lice on the farm.
We worked with the bioemitters as the system developed increasing the number of cages treated for about four years. We then ceased production. The health and quality of the fish while under treatment was generally improved and overall we likely could have gone the whole season without chemicals.
I believe that the biomitters are part of the solution for the elimination of chemical treatments and for the control of sealice.
